Artist statement

The core of my practice is to treat sound phenomena as legitimate material in the field of visual art and to emphasize listening as a practice. In everyday life, most of the sound remains unnoticed because we don’t really listen to it. Listening begins when we become aware of sound and focus on that sense. My practice engages with the contemporary sound landscape to choose and rewrite the concept of noise as an unwanted element. I use a wide range of processes, including installations, field recordings, video, musical concepts and drawing, depending on the context. I use the sound sphere to manipulate the attention of viewers and listeners, questioning their preconceptions.
